    RISC-RAD is an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission within the sixth Framework Programme – Euratom. This programme is composed of three priorities :

    • Management of radioactive waste
    • Nuclear fission and radiation protection
    • Other activities in the field of nuclear technologies and safety

    RISC-RAD comes in the “nuclear fission and radiation protection” priority under action line RADPROT-2003-3.3.1.1-1 : Cellular and molecular biology research on the effects of low and protracted doses.

    RISC-RAD  gathers a large multidisciplinary consortium of 29 European organisations :

    • 10 national research entities, 3 national radiation protection institutes
    • 13 Universities, 3 National Cancer Institutes
    • 1 private (not-for-profit) organisation

    33 teams specialised in radiobiology, genetics, molecular biology, biophysics, oncology, modelling involve more than 380 persons (scientists, post-doc, PhD, undergratuate students, technical assistants, administratives…)

    Management policy

    As an integrated project involving numerous players, RISC-RAD requires a coherent and effective management framework. This framework follows the rules and regulations defined in the consortium agreement, as well as European Commission policies.

    More specifically, it aims to :

    • ensure timely and qualitative achievement of project result
    • coordinate research activities at consortium level
    • provide effective decision making mechanisms for all aspects of the project
    • implement legal, contractual, financial and administrative coordination
    • support training of members and exhange to knowledge
    • support exploitation and dissemination of results

    Organisation

    Management activities are entrusted to different entities, depending on the activity concerned and the level of responsibility :

    • The project board,
    • The governing council,
    • The coordinator,
    • The scientific manager,
    • The scientific committee.
